Adventures in Cooking
Sep. 14th, 2013 08:35 pmM and I had a play today withthe molecular gastronomy kit Jess send me for Christmas :) It was a bit messy and a lot of fun!
We made
- balsamic vinegar solid sheets, and balsamic caviar (which you make by dripping gellified vinegar into oil with a pipette!) This then made a fab goats cheese salad!( Vinegar art! )
It was really easy and great fun!
Then we made a solid coconut milk pudding, and we made little jelly pouches of amaretto. The making of pics for this didn't come out well; but basially you make thick liquid booze and submerge it in a cold setting bath. They ooze booze when you bite into them!
( Pudding art! )
For our final dish, we made chocolate spaghetti - jellified dark chocolate piped through narrow silicon tubing with a syringe. Great fun! The foam on top is made by whizzing a special powder with orange juice. You can also make soup or paresan spaghetti :)
